While travelling, the owner packed this suede handbag inside her luggage together with several skincare products. During the trip, some of the products leaked, allowing oils to soak completely through the suede. Hoping to save the bag, she covered the affected areas with cornstarch before bringing it to us for professional restoration.
Unlike surface stains, oils penetrate deep into suede fibres, making them far more difficult to remove. The restoration also required carefully removing the remaining cornstarch without disturbing the delicate texture of the suede before treating the oil contamination itself.
After professional cleaning and restoration, the heavy oil contamination was significantly reduced while preserving the original suede. The handbag regained a much cleaner, more even appearance and was ready to be used again.
