The leather on this club chair and matching ottoman had lost much of its original deep burgundy colour. The seat and ottoman were especially faded, with large areas where the colour had worn away almost completely. The armrests and back also showed significant wear, leaving the leather looking dry, faded, and uneven.
The original burgundy colour had to be matched and restored across both pieces, including the areas where the original pigment had almost completely disappeared. The new colour also needed to work with the existing texture and natural character of the leather rather than making the pieces look artificially coated.
The chair and ottoman regained their deep burgundy colour, with the heavily faded areas brought back into the overall finish. The leather now has a richer, more even appearance while retaining the character of the original pieces.
This has always been my favourite chair, so I really didn't want to replace it. The leather had become so faded and worn that I wasn't sure how much could be done, but the colour restoration made a huge difference. The chair looks beautiful again, and I'm especially glad I get to keep the one I've always loved.— Kevin Johnston
