This project involved restoring a worn and peeling driver-side door armrest. The surface had visible material failure from regular use, making the damage noticeable and uncomfortable to the touch. Instead of full reupholstery, the client chose a repair-based solution to improve the armrest quickly and affordably.
The armrest showed significant surface wear with peeling and exposed underlying material. Typically, this type of damage is resolved by reupholstering the entire armrest to achieve a like-new appearance. However, that approach requires more time and a higher budget. The challenge was to stabilize the damaged area, restore a uniform look, and maintain a soft, natural feel using a repair method.
The repaired armrest looks clean and consistent from a normal viewing distance, with the damaged area no longer drawing attention. While close inspection reveals that a repair was performed, the result is a major improvement over the original condition. Most importantly, the armrest remains soft and comfortable to the touch, with no sticky or slippery surface. The client was fully satisfied with the outcome as a practical and budget-friendly solution.
